We at the CUNY School of Professional Studies along with our development partners took second place in the Federal Virtual World’s Challenge run by the US Army Research Laboratory-Simulation and Training Technology Center based in Orlando, FL. Each year they give out awards to the best of the best among implementations as demonstrated in a virtual environment. This was out of a large group of about 4 dozen entries.

While I had the honor of attending the conference and the award ceremony, this award was earned by all of the hard work put in by many different contributors, and I would like to acknowledge them here:

  • Dina Maniotis, Michael Schultz, and Robert Van Pelt at the New York City Office of Emergency Management.
  • Anders Gronstedt and Peter Guastella of the Gronstedt Group.
  • David Burden, Andrew Jinman, Jag Nishi and all the others at Daden.
  • Jon Brouchard.
  • Blasina Sims at the CUNY School of Professional Studies.

This was a great undertaking and a great contribution to the emergency preparedness level of NYC; we have finished one journey and are only at  the beggining of yet another.

Congratulations to all of the nominees this year. It was great to be in your company. Thanks to the host committee for hosting us and having us as a part of the Defense Gametech Conference.

The team agreed to donate the cash prize to the CUNY School of Professional Studies General Scholarship Fund to support the further development of students.
